I have been looking through Polyvore a lot to get some inspiration for outfit ideas and one thing that I came across that never occurred to me to do, was denim on denim. I always thought that was such a faux pas but once I saw some ways that they showed how to do it, I changed my mind and became a denim on denim believer! As I am writing this, I have on my take on a denim on denim outfit which I think looks really cute. Here are some of my favourite picks from the outfits I saw.
Outfit 1: Dressy Daytime
I think this outfit is perfect for spring time because of the country flare that is added by the cowboy boots. With this outfit I like how there is a prominent third color (brown) that divides the denim. I also think this outfit works because the denims are two different tones, one is a lighter denim and the other is very dark.
Outfit 2: Causal Daytime
This is another look that I would probably lean towards because its casual and also edgy at the same time. I like how there is that white sweater that would break up the denim since they are very similar in wash color. Then the Converse shoes and pretty jewelry adds a diversity from edgy to dressy which makes the outfit really cool.
Outfit 3: Casual Evening Date Night
This is my favorite outfit (it looks similar to my outfit of the day today!) I like how in this outfit, they don't divide the denim with a sweater or shirk, they just use different wash colors so that there is a contrast and doesn't look too matchy matchy. Then there is a good amount of arm candy to add something to the outfit and combat boots! Definitely a good denim on denim outfit to try out.
These were my favorite denim on denim inspired outfits, I am definitely going to try all of these out in my own versions as well as think of some different ones. All of these are pretty easy to recreate especially since the chambray shirt has become so popular it's probably common in more peoples wardrobe. Good Luck!
